2017 MITS Professional Development Seminar Series

The Professional Development Seminar Series is designed for staff, volunteers and other professionals from science, environmental, history, technology, art and other cultural institutions and centers in New England.

Join the Museum Institute for Teaching Science (MITS) this winter for full day seminars divided into 2 sessions - a scientific presentation and a skill-based session.  Sign up for one or more today!

All 4 sessions promise to provide an exciting, hands-on professional development opportunity for you and your staff!

MassBay Community College STEM EXPO

We would like to invite you to attend MassBay Community College’s bi-annual STEM EXPO on Wednesday, December  14, 2016 from 11:00 AM -12:00 PM on our Wellesley campus at 50 Oakland Street in Wellesley Hills, MA.

The STEM EXPO recognizes the accomplishments and contributions of our students and faculty over the course of the semester in the disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics and seeks to cultivate creativity and foster alliances with secondary schools, higher education, and private industry in the region.

Our exhibition will highlight student-developed projects that demonstrate the multi-dimensional skills, problem-solving capabilities and talents of our diverse student body.

At the EXPO, you will find student exhibitions on:

·         Engineering Design with ideas prototyped using a 3D Printer

·         Web Design

·         Cyber Security

·         Statistics

·         Biology and Biotechnology

Hour of Code--Computer Science Education Week

The Hour of Code™ is a global movement seeking to "demystify code, to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science." The campaign is supported by more than 200,000 educators worldwide and we seek to expand that number in Southeastern Mass. Since 2013, myriad code activities have been planned to correspond with Computer Science Education Week which this year is December 5 - 11.

Massachusetts STEM Summit 2015


Mark your calendars for the 12th annual Massachusetts STEM Summit! Join us on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at the DCU Center in Worcester!

Themed "Promising Practices, Proven Results", the day will include panel presentations, plenary speakers, and exhibitors showcasing STEM initiatives; sharing innovative thinking; and highlighting the goals, plans, and progress of STEM policies and programs.

Sessions will cover a broad range of topics including: early childhood, K-12, and higher education; out-of-school time programs; digital education; research and practice; innovation and entrepreneurship; workforce development and career awareness; state policy and business needs; and more.
